Irish music lecture today

The Irish Studies Program will sponsor a lecture today by Irish musician and producer Tony McMahon titled "Tradition vs. Innovation," at 7:30 p.m. in Gasson 100.

McMahon is an acclaimed accordion player who has performed, recorded and lectured on traditional Irish music for over 30 years, and is a regular presenter on Radio Telefis Eireann. His lecture will include demonstrations of Irish music, and will be followed by a question-and-answer period.

Intercultural Office seeks Thanksgiving hosts

The Intercultural Office is encouraging Boston College employees to share their Thanksgiving celebrations with international students through the office's Thanksgiving Day Host Program.

Hosts may invite one or more international students for a Thanksgiving meal. No overnight stay is required.

Media, public discourse subject of Gasson Lecture

Gasson Professor John Staudenmaier, SJ, will deliver the fall Gasson Lecture on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Gasson 305. His topic will be "Talking at the Speed of Light: Electronic Media and Public Discourse in the United States." A reception will follow.

Enrollment period for life insurance until Nov. 20

The Benefits Office has announced an open enrollment period until Nov. 20 for University employees to purchase insurance at group rates for themselves and their families through the Contributory Group Life Insurance Plan.

During the period, employees may buy insurance for the first time or add to existing coverage. In most cases, employees must purchase insurance for themselves in $10,000 increments up to one times their annual base salary, and may buy one unit of dependent life insurance with no health information required. Premiums are paid through payroll deduction.
