DeLeeuw Named Assoc. Dean of Faculties

Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Associate Dean Pat Academic Vice President and Dean of Faculties David R. Burgess announced at the May 6 Faculty Day event several recent and forthcoming administrative changes.

Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Associate Dean Patricia DeLeeuw has been appointed associate dean of faculties, effective Aug. 1. She replaces Richard Spinello, who will leave the position after 11 years to join the Carroll School of Management faculty.

Burgess also noted that the appointment of Michael Smyer as associate academic vice president for research and graduate studies, announced earlier in the academic year, will take effect this summer. Smyer has served as associate vice president for research and dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences since 1994.

The University will shortly introduce its first associate academic vice president for academic technology and facilities, Burgess added, and hopes to soon announce the new dean for the College of Arts and Sciences.
