Sherwood Receives Waldron Award

Dean for Student Development Robert Sherwood received the fourth annual Mary Kaye Waldron Award from the Undergraduate Government of Boston College at a dinner in the Lower Campus Dining Hall Heights Room on April 26.

Presented to a faculty member or administrator who has worked to enhance student life at Boston College, the award commemorates the late Mary Kaye Waldron '95, a varsity basketball manager and member of the Jenks Leadership Program and the Chaplaincy's Salt and Light Co. who died of cancer in her senior year.

UGBC President Patrick McMahon '99 said Sherwood was chosen for the honor for his "constant willingness to open his schedule to speak with students about their concerns."

Sherwood expressed gratitude at being tapped for the award.

"Knowing how prestigious the students consider the Mary Kaye Waldron Award to be, I am extremely honored and pleased to be selected as this year's recipient," he said.

"This award ceremony has become a wonderful opportunity for the entire Boston College community to come together to celebrate the memory and spirit of a student loved by everyone who had the pleasure to know her," Sherwood added.
