Governor to speak Dec. 3

Acting Governor Paul Cellucci will present a lecture, "BC and Beyond," on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Devlin 008. The event is sponsored by the Carroll School of Management Honors Program.

IT workshop on new Claris Filemaker to be held Dec. 4

The Office of Information Technology will sponsor a "Topic in Technology" session on the newly released Claris Filemaker Pro 4.0, from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4 in Gasson 06.

A Claris representative will demonstrate the new features of this database and project management software.

Donations sought for Summerhill House

University employees are asked to consider making donations to Summerhill House, a residential home in Norwood for expectant and parenting adolescents. Carol Hunt-Clerici, faculty personnel assistant in the Office of the Academic Vice President and a Summerhill volunteer, suggests monetary donations to allow the home to purchase needed equipment. Past donations from BC employees have enabled Summerhill to obtain items such as carpeting.

BC film maker to screen movie about holiday season

Prof. John Michalczyk (Fine Arts) will host the premiere of his new film, "December's Dilemma: The Creche, the Dreidle and the Star," on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. in Higgins 307.

The 30-minute documentary re-examines the origins and spirit of the Christmas and Chanukah traditions, and focuses on the tensions over interfaith marriages, controversies over public displays of religious symbols, and the sense of isolation experienced by some people during the holiday season.
