Fr. Leahy Is Elected To A.J.C.U. Executive Comm.

University President William P. Leahy, SJ, has been elected to the executive committee of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, a national voluntary service organization comprising the 28 American Jesuit colleges and universities.

During his three-year renewable term, Fr. Leahy will participate in monthly meetings of the six-member committee as well as the two yearly meetings of the association's full board of directors, which includes the presidents of the 28 Jesuit institutions. Fr. Leahy joined the board of directors when he assumed the presidency of Boston College in 1996.

The association represents its member institutions in the shaping of public policy for higher education, monitoring regulatory activities of government executive agencies and following judicial decisions of the court. It works closely with other major higher education associations and assists individual Jesuit institutions in an ongoing effort to improve their educational effectiveness.
