Saturday Funeral Set For Campus School's Curran

A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, in St. Mary's Chapel for Francis X. Curran, a program specialist at the Campus School who died on Feb. 20 after a lengthy illness. He was 74.

After a long affiliation with the School of Education and the Campus School, Curran became a full-time program specialist five years ago. He served as coordinator for the Eagle Eyes Project, which allows severely handicapped students to operate computers using only their eyes, and had been working on a satellite site for the project in Middleboro.

Curran received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University in 1948 and 1949, respectively. As program director at the Waltham-based Gabler School from 1981-92, Curran was involved in various collaborative efforts with the Campus School. In addition, from 1985-95 he taught in the SOE Professional School Administrators Program, from where he earned his doctorate in 1989.

Curran also was director of guidance and pupil services for the Waltham Public Schools from 1971-82.
