The new Boston College Club in downtown Boston is already nearing 80 percent of the projected membership figure for the first year of the club's operation.

University Financial Vice President and Treasurer Peter McKenzie, a member of the club's founding board of governors, reported that 1,640 alumni, parents, friends and employees have joined the club since its opening in February. The club expects to enroll 2,100 members by the end of the year.

Located on the 36th floor of the BankBoston Building at 100 Federal Street in the city's financial district, the Boston College Club has proven a hit with many generations of the BC family, McKenzie said.

"Not only has the club become a popular dining and socializing spot for all BC alumni," he said, "it's great to see so many young graduates there as well."

The club includes a formal dining room, casual grill room and a bar area, and provides a panoramic view of Boston and the harbor. In addition to weekday breakfast and luncheon service, the club is open for dinner on Thursday and Friday evenings.

The club's spring schedule includes a number of special events, including an Easter Sunday brunch on April 10, a Mother's Day brunch on May 10, and a French wine tasting on April 29.

Interested members of the Boston College community can obtain membership information by contacting the club at (617) 946-2828.
