Burns hosts Rex Stout exhibit

An exhibition at Burns Library, "A Celebration of Rex Stout and the American Detective Fiction Genre," will open today, Sept. 19, and run through Friday, Nov. 15.

It will feature Stout's books and manuscripts, along with other gifts from three donors, including Prof. Emeritus John J. McAleer (English), Stout's official biographer. McAleer recently presented Boston College with materials used in composing his biography of Stout, together with editions of Stout's works.

For more information on the exhibit, call the Burns Library at ext. 2-3282.

Jesuit tradition to be explored in discussion

The Jesuit Community and the Department of Human Resources will sponsor a video showing and discussion on "Shared Vision: Jesuit Spirit in Education" four times during the fall semester.

The sessions will include the video, "Beginnings," produced by the Insitute of Jesuit Sources, which details the founding of the Society of Jesus by St. Ignatius Loyola. It will be followed by a discussion, led by a member of the Jesuit Community, explaining the Spiritual Exercises and how they apply to education.

Sessions will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 25; Tuesday, Oct. 8; Thursday, Oct. 24; and Thursday, Nov. 14 from 9-11:30 a.m. in the St. Mary's Hall Conference Room.
