Social Policy and Action Day Slated

State Mental Health Commissioner Marylou Sudders will head a list of speakers discussing public policies as they relate to the status of women, at the Graduate School of Social Work's annual Social Policy and Action Day on Nov. 12 at the Massachusetts Statehouse.

The day offers an opportunity for GSSW students to hear about issues of concern to the social work profession, and helps build awareness of the interplay between politics and human services.

Students also will hear two panel discussions; "Women, Work and Welfare," and "Domestic Violence."

"In the past, Social Policy and Action Day tended to look at pending policy issues in a general way," said Prof. Demetrius Iatridis (GSSW). "This year, we decided to be more specific, to give the discussions more of a focus. We felt it would promote more in-depth analysis."
