Trustee Named Fides Leader

University Trustee Gregory P. Barber, '69, has been appointed chairman of the Fides Society, a group of contributors who donate between $1,000 and $4,999 to Boston College annually. He will succeed Trustee Patrick Carney '70 on June 1.

Barber, an East Greenwich, RI, resident and founder and co-chairman of Providence Ventures Inc., is a leading cable television investor and director of numerous non-profit organizations.

"Given his extensive knowledge of the University, and his far-reaching involvement in BC as alumnus, parent and trustee, it was quite appropriate that Gregory Barber be chosen to lead Fides," said Vice President for University Relations Mary Lou DeLong. "Fides has long played a key role in building support for the University, and we know that Greg will continue this fine tradition of leadership."

Barber's son, Gregory Jr., is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences.
