Promotions Announced For 20 B.C. Faculty

University President J. Donald Monan, SJ, has announced the promotions and tenuring of 20 Boston College faculty members, effective March 1.

Twelve of the promoted faculty are in the College of Arts and Sciences. Promoted to full professor are: Alan Richardson (English), Susan Shell (Political Science), Paul Schervish (Sociology) and Francis Clooney, SJ (Theology). In addition, W. Bentley MacLeod (Economics) was promoted to full professor with tenure.

A&S faculty promoted to associate professor with tenure are: Charles Hoffman (Biology), Mrinalini Sinha (History), Chi-Keung Cheung (Mathematics), Kenji Hayao (Political Science) and Margaret Thomas (Slavic and Eastern Languages). Also, associate professors Frank Taylor (History) and G. Robert Meyerhoff (Mathematics) were granted tenure.

In the Carroll School of Management, Theresa Hammond and Billy Soo were promoted to associate professor with tenure.

In the School of Education, Lea McGee was promoted to full professor and Karen Arnold, Martha Bronson and James Mahalik were promoted to associate professor with tenure.

In the Law School, James Repetti and Robert Smith were promoted to full professor.

Fr. Monan will host a reception honoring promoted and tenured faculty on Thursday, March 21 at 3:30 p.m. in Botolph House.
