Fr. Monan joined the school's philosophy faculty in 1960 and became the department's chairman the following year. He was director of the Honors Program at Le Moyne from 1962 to 1968, when he was named academic dean and vice president. He held those positions until his appointment as Boston College president in 1972.
Le Moyne enrolls approximately 1,840 full-time students in a program of liberal arts, science and pre-professional studies, and offers graduate programs in education and business administration.
