Trustees Chair Emeritus Connors at Laetare Sunday
More than 500 members of the University community are expected to gather in Conte Forum on Sunday, March 26, for the 55th annual Laetare Sunday Mass and brunch.
A traditional observance of the mid-point of the Lenten season, this year's Laetare Sunday event returns to its original format of a morning Mass, followed by brunch and a keynote speaker.
The Laetare Mass, to be celebrated by University President William P. Leahy, SJ, will begin at 9:30 a.m. The homily will be offered by Rev. Michael Himes, a professor in the theology department.
Jack Connors '63, chairman emeritus of the Boston College Board of Trustees and one of the nation's leading advertising executives, will be the guest speaker at the brunch reception.
"We would like to make this the best and largest Laetare celebration in 55 years," said Alumni Association Acting Executive Director Peter McLaughlin. "We hope to bring together the entire community - alumni, students, faculty and staff - for this occasion."
Boston College's Laetare Sunday Mass and brunch is the oldest continuous religious event at any Catholic college in the United States.
Tickets for the brunch are $18 for adults and $8 for children over 12. The event is free for Boston College students and children under 12. For more information, or to make reservations, contact the Alumni Association at ext. 2-4700 or on-line.
