Fund Set for Injured BC StudentA charitable fund has been established for a Boston College graduate student who lies comatose in an area hospital. Oleg I. Bizyaev, a Ukrainian-born doctoral student in economics, was found on a Brighton sidewalk in the early morning hours of July 9. He was immediately rushed to Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Boston Police speculate that Bizyaev was injured in a fall but are continuing their investigation. A hospital official said Bizayaev, who has not regained consciousness since being found, is in fair condition. A week after Bizyaev's hospitalization, his mother and brother arrived from the Ukraine as guests of the University. After staying in a BC residence hall, they moved to another location near the hospital. St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Jamaica Plain has established a fund to help the family with expenses. To contribute to the fund, send a check or money order to: St. Andrew Church, Account #1085 at the Ukrainian Fraternal Federal Credit Union, Post Office Box 185, West Roxbury, MA 02132. -Stephen Gawlik • |
