Vigil for Tsunami Victims Jan. 25

The Undergraduate Government of Boston College is organizing a candlelight vigil in O'Neill Plaza at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25, to raise money for victims and survivors of the tsunami disaster in South Asia.

Donations collected at the vigil will be sent to Catholic Relief Services and Jesuit Refugee Services.

As part of the University's response to the tragedy, President William P. Leahy, SJ, issued a letter to the BC community earlier this month in which he asked for prayers for the victims and their families. He noted that collections at Campus Ministry Masses during the first two weeks of the semester would be offered toward the relief effort, with all gifts directed to either Catholic Relief Services or Jesuit Refugee Services.

"May our prayers and generosity bring hope to those who have lost so much as a result of this disaster," concluded Fr. Leahy's letter.
