BC Wall Street Dinner to Honor Golfer Greg Norman Tonight
Champion professional golfer Greg Norman will be the main speaker and will receive the President's Medal for Excellence at tonight's 17th annual Boston College Wall Street Council Tribute Dinner in New York City.
The black-tie dinner, held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, benefits the University's Presidential Scholars Program, which draws students from the top 1 percent of college applicants nationally. The Presidential Scholars Program offers a challenging educational experience enhanced by the Ignatian tradition of service.
A highlight of the dinner is presentation of the President's Medal for Excellence, which recognizes individuals who, through personal or professional achievements, represent the ideal proclaimed in the University's motto, Ever to Excel.
Norman, the 2005 recipient, has won numerous major golf tournaments and was a 2001 inductee into the Golf Hall of Fame. An Australian native and Boston College parent, he is chairman and CEO of Great White Shark Enterprises, a multi-national corporation with offices in Jupiter, Fla., and Sydney, Australia. Among his charitable pursuits, Norman and his wife Laura co-founded the Franklin Templeton Shootout in 1989 to help children who suffer from disease or social difficulties. •
