A 'Winter Wonderland' Coming to Newton Campus on Dec. 7

On Sunday, Dec. 7, Boston College's Newton Campus will be transformed into the North Pole as the Alumni Association holds its first annual "Winter Wonderland" celebration in conjunction with the University Chorale's annual Christmas Concert.

Winter Wonderland activities will be held from noon until 4 p.m. with the Chorale concert beginning in Newton's Trinity Chapel at 2 p.m.

As part of the Winter Wonderland event, the Newton quonset hut will be turned into Santa's "North Pole Workshop" with full Christmas décor. Children will be invited to make gingerbread houses and Christmas tree ornaments, enjoy candy canes and other treats and have their picture taken on Santa's lap.

Outside, Victorian carolers and a wagon "sleigh ride" through the wooded area of the campus will add to the holiday spirit.

Tickets for the Winter Wonderland events are $5 for adults, with children 12 and under admitted free. Families attending the event are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy that will be donated to a local children's charity.

Chorale concert tickets are $10 per person.

Tickets for both of these events are available from the Alumni Association at ext.2-4700.
Also on Dec. 7, the Boston College Concert Band will present a Christmas Concert, starting at 3 p.m. in Gasson 100. The band will play such as holiday favorites as "A Christmas Festival," "Greensleeves," "An Irving Berlin Christmas," "Sleigh Ride" and the Sussex Mummers' Christmas Carol.

Admission to the band concert is free.
