Beginning This Fall, It's Twice a Week for The Heights
The Heights, Boston College's oldest independent student newspaper, will publish twice a week during the academic year beginning this fall, Editor-in-Chief Ryan Heffernan announced recently.
Starting in September, the 85-year-old newspaper will publish on Mondays and Thursdays. According to a press release by Heffernan, The Heights also will restructure its format, which now comprises sections for news, sports, features and arts. The Monday edition will retain the four sections, albeit with fewer pages than the current weekly paper, while the Thursday edition will consist of two sections.
Heffernan said the change will enable the paper to deliver more current, newsworthy information, and "aid in increasing communication and the availability of news on campus."
Heffernan also announced that The Heights won honorable mention citations for overall design and editorial page design from the Student Society for Newspaper Design. The paper's Web site, www.bcheights.com, is a finalist for an Online Pacemaker award, given by the Associate Collegiate Press. Winners will be decided in November. •
