Law Pastor Fr. Enman Honored

Law School Pastor and Special Assistant to the Dean for Students Rev. Fred Enman, SJ, has been chosen to receive the 2004 Isaac Hecker Award for Social Justice, given by the Paulist Center of Boston to North American Catholics who strive to build a more just and peaceful world.

Fr. Enman is a co-founder of Matthew 25, a program that brings together college and high school student volunteers to help provide food and housing relief for poor families in the Worcester, Mass., area. The program has resulted in the rehabilitation of many abandoned houses, which are then rented to low-income families.

Past recipients of the Hecker Award include Dorothy Day, Cesar Chavez and Sister Helen Prejean. Fr. Enman formally received the honor at a ceremony earlier this year.
