BC Hoops and Hockey Teams Gearing Up for Tournament

Boston College men's and women's basketball teams will be in action this coming weekend as the annual NCAA Tournament begins.

The men's team, which earned a sixth seed in the St. Louis regional after losing to Pitt in the Big East Tournament semifinals, will play Utah tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. in Milwaukee. BC finished with a 23-9 record, including a 10-6 mark in Big East play, and tied for 25th place in the most recent Associated Press rankings.

The women's team, winners of the Big East Tournament and seeded third in the Mideast region, takes on Eastern Michigan Saturday in Columbus, Ohio. BC and EMU will play 30 minutes after the completion of the first game at Columbus, which begins at 11 a.m. The Eagles, led by Kodak All-America Team finalist Amber Jacobs, compiled a 25-6 record and are ranked 18th nationally.

At press time the BC men's hockey team, which fell to Boston University in last week's Hockey East Tournament quarterfinals, was awaiting announcement of the NCAA tournament schedule and pairings. First-round action begins March 26-28.
