BC to Host NCAA President Myles Brand Tomorrow

The Boston College community is invited to attend a presentation by National Collegiate Athletic Association President Myles Brand tomorrow, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. in Robsham Theater.

Brand, who became association president more than a year ago, will discuss current NCAA and collegiate athletics-related issues and answer questions in an open forum.

Brand has drawn praise for his appearance at the National Association of Basketball Coaches last fall in an effort to improve relations between the NCAA and the nation's college basketball coaches. He was an invited speaker at a national symposium on athletics reform hosted by Tulane University last November, and served as a mediator at a meeting of university officials on the Bowl Championship Series controversy.

Before taking the NCAA top spot, Brand was president of Indiana University from 1994 through 2002 and at the University of Oregon from 1989 to 1994. A former teacher of philosophy, he has served in administrative posts at the Ohio State University and the University of Arizona.
