Law School to Hold Service April 18 for Reginald Alleyne
Boston College Law School will hold a memorial service this Sunday, April 18, for Huber Distinguished Visiting Professor Reginald Alleyne, who died of cancer on March 28. He was 71.
The memorial service will be held at the Trinity Chapel on Newton Campus at 2:30 p.m.
Prof. Alleyne, who joined the BC Law faculty in 1996, taught for many years at the University of California-Los Angeles Law School. His research focused on alternative uses of arbitration processes and his writing interests, reflected in numerous law review articles and book chapters, were mainly in the areas of labor and employment law. Prof. Alleyne was active as an arbitrator in major labor disputes, especially in the sports world.
Before beginning his academic career at UCLA, he served as a law clerk to Judge Henry W. Edgerton of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. For two years, while on academic leave from UCLA, Prof. Alleyne chaired what is now California's Public Employment Relations Board. -Law School Communications Manager Nathaniel Kenyon •
