Michael P. Dwyer '78, former vice president of college operations at Dean College, has returned to Boston College as associate vice president for facilities management.

Dwyer, who started at his new position on March 15, is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Management division, which maintains the University's 112 buildings on two campuses encompassing 161 acres. Dwyer will oversee the offices of Capital Construction, Design and Engineering, Facilities Services, Facilities Support Systems and Environmental Health and Safety.

"This department has a reputation outside of Boston College for being on the cutting edge of the facilities management field," said Dwyer, who also has served in management and executive positions at Skanska USA, Inc., and the Flatley Management Co. "There is a high level of professionalism on the staff, a passion for excellence and a remarkable attention to detail. I am looking forward to the challenges ahead."

During his six years at Dean College, located in Franklin, Mass., Dwyer was responsible for all aspects of the college's buildings, grounds, systems, contracts and regulatory compliance. He worked extensively at reducing operational costs and improving services and decision-making as well as maintaining relationships between the college and the town.

He is credited with establishing Dean's Conference, Events and Summer Camp Program, achieving $200,000 in net revenue and making the operation profitable within three years. Dean College also received the 2000-2001 United States Chamber of Commerce Business Development Enhancement Award.
