'Church in the 21st Century' Debuts Sept. 18
With an opening event set for Sept. 18, Boston College this month officially launches its "The Church in the 21st Century" initiative, a two-year academic program that will explore the issues arising from the clergy sexual abuse crisis in the Catholic Church and provide a forum for the Catholic community to assist in the Church's renewal.
9/11, One Year Later: BC Reflects
For Patrol Officer/EMT Patrick Rose and his family, Boston College is more than a workplace. It is alma mater for his wife, Karen M.Ed.'92, and a place of learning for their daughter, Kimberly, a junior in the Lynch School of Education. This Wednesday, BC will take on another important role for Rose: as a community remembering the victims of last year's terrorist attacks, which include Karen Rose's first cousins, Peter and Susan Hanson and their 2-year-old daughter, Christine, who died in the crash of hijacked United Airlines Flight 175 at the World Trade Center.
Memorial Events Scheduled
Boston College will hold a Day of Remembrance on the first anniversary of Sept. 11 this Wednesday with Masses, memorial and prayer services and a candlelight vigil.
