Gary Hart to give lecture on Sept. 18

Former US Senator and presidential candidate Gary Hart will present the lecture "Restoration of the Republic: The Jeffersonian Ideal in 21st-Century America" on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 4:15 p.m. in Gasson 305.

The lecture's title is taken from Hart's recent book, in which he argues that our governance is deficient in the qualities of civic virtue, duty, citizen participation, and concern for corruption because of social obstacles to direct participation.

Hart's appearance is sponsored by the Boisi Center for Religion and American Life. Information is available through the Boisi Center Web site, at www.bc.edu/boisi, by e-mail at publife@bc.edu, or by phone at ext.2-1860.
