The Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools recently informed University President William P. Leahy, SJ, that it had formally accepted BC's report and found the University had been successful in its assessment of outcomes in schools and departments; fulfilling the institutional commitment to diversity in employment, enrollment, curriculum and support services; and integrating academic programs with student life.
BC received full reaccreditation from CIHE, one of eight accrediting commissions in the United States that provide voluntary institutional accreditation on a regional basis, in 1997. As part of the process for the next reaccreditation, the University submitted a fifth-year interim report. In the letter announcing its acceptance of the report, CIHE confirmed that the comprehensive evaluation scheduled for the spring of 2007 can proceed on schedule.
