Cardinal Kasper Visits Nov. 6

Cardinal Walter Kasper, president of the Pontifical Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews, visits Boston College Nov. 6 to give an address, "The Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews: A Crucial Endeavor of the Catholic Church," at 8 p.m. in Devlin 008.

Cardinal Kasper is to speak at the invitation of the Center for Christian-Jewish Learning at Boston College. The Zamir Chorale of Boston, one of the nation's foremost Jewish choral ensembles, will perform following the address.

Widely respected for his work in ecumenical relations, Cardinal Kasper, of Germany, was appointed by Pope John Paul II last year to the presidency of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, which promotes dialogue with other Christian denominations and also with Jews. With the presidency of the council goes leadership of its commission on Jewish outreach, in which role the cardinal will make his address at BC.

Several noteworthy papers delivered by Cardinal Kasper on Catholic-Jewish relations are available online.

The public is invited. Admission is free, with pre-registration requested here: www.bc.edu/bc_org/research/cjl/Pre-regNov6.htm.
