Moakley Professor is Honored

Moakley Professor of Political Science Kay L. Schlozman has been recognized by the American Political Science Association for her research on women and politics.

The association selected Schlozman, Harvard University Carl H. Pforzheimer University Professor Sidney Verba and University of Michigan Henry Simmons Frieze Associate Professor of Political Science Nancy Burns as winners of the Victoria Schuck Award for their book, The Private Roots of Public Action: Gender, Equality, and Political Participation.

"It's always gratifying to be recognized by one's colleagues," said Schlozman, who chairs the BC Political Science Department.

"What we sought to do was take a statistically sophisticated study and make it as accessible as possible for those who are not necessarily attuned to statistics. From what we've been told, people have had good success in using it in undergraduate classes."
