Gardner School Receives Award

The Gardner Extended Services School, a partnership between Boston College and the Allston-Brighton community, was presented the 2002 Mayor's Award for Excellence in Children's Health yesterday morning at a ceremony held in the school.

Sponsored by Children's Hospital Boston, Harvard School of Public Health and the Office of Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, the award recognizes community-oriented programs that improve the health of children and adolescents living in the city of Boston. The Gardner School is the first Boston public school to win the honor.

In addition to providing programs and services to Gardner during the regular school year, BC hosts Gardner students for a summer enrichment program.
