STORY IN SONG-St. Mary's Chapel was the setting last week for the first public performance in more than 300 years of the Jesuit chamber opera Patientis Christ Memoria ("Memory of the Suffering of Christ"), written by Johann Bernhard Staudt. The three-act drama, set at Jesus' tomb before the Resurrection, was unearthed by Jesuit Institute Director T. Frank Kennedy, SJ, and staged by the Ensemble Abendmusik conducted by University Chorale Director John Finney. In the foreground is James Ruff (countertenor) playing the part of Memory of the Passion, Roberta Anderson (soprano) playing Spirit of the Christ and Susan Consoli (soprano) playing Pain.
