Series Spotlights BC Authors

Boston College authors like Asst. Prof. Carlo Rotella (English) now have a public venue in which to present their work, thanks to a new lecture series being sponsored by Boston College Magazine and the Boston College Bookstore.

Rotella will offer excerpts from his recent collection, Good with Their Hands: Boxers, Bluesmen, and Other Characters from the Rust Belt [see separate story], on Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Gasson 305 as part of the "Writers Among Us: Boston College Readings" forum.

"Not enough happens at Boston College to celebrate members of the community who publish interesting books," said Executive Director of Marketing Communications and Special Assistant to the President Ben Birnbaum, who editor of Boston College Magazine. "The benefit will be that we will promote our writers and help sell some books."

"Writers Among Us" kicked off in October with a reading by Assoc. Prof. Theresa Hammond (CSOM), an Ernst & Young Research Fellow in Diversity Studies who has authored A White-Collar Profession: African American Certified Public Accountants Since 1921.

Future events in the series will be announced at a later date.
