Junior Earns Goldwater Award
Physics major Alexander A. Demidov '04, of Duxbury, Mass., has won a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, which provides $7,500 per year and is considered the premier undergraduate award in math, engineering and the sciences.
He plans to pursue a doctorate in theoretical physics, possibly specializing in superconductivity. The former research assistant to Assoc. Prof. Jan Engelbrecht (Physics) currently is studying in Sweden as part of the Junior Year Abroad program.
