Cochran-Smith Will Head AERA

Prof. Marilyn Cochran-Smith (LSOE), director of the doctoral program in Curriculum and Instruction at the Lynch School of Education, was recently chosen as president-elect of the American Educational Research Association, one of the most prominent educational research organizations.

She will begin her one-year term as president of the 20,000-member international organization at the conclusion of its 2004 annual meeting, following a year of service as president-elect.

Cochran-Smith, one of three candidates nominated for the AERA presidency, is chair of the AERA Publications Committee and co-chairs its National Consensus Panel on Teacher Education.
