Rev. Michael Moisin of the St. Joseph Byzantine Mission will celebrate the Holy and Divine Liturgy of our Father among the Saints, John Chrysostom, in commemoration of our Holy Father Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, at 7:30 p.m. in St. Mary's Chapel.
"The splendor of the Byzantine liturgy takes us into God's time, where the heart can grasp its own needs and present them before Him and His holy ones," said Assoc. Prof. Michael J. Connolly (Slavic and Eastern Languages), an archdeacon in the Armenian Catholic rite who will assist.
Most of the liturgy will be prayed in English, with the Andrei Rublev Chorus, directed by Mary Arapoff, performing chant in Slavonic.
The Mass for St. Nicholas is one of a number of festive offerings in liturgy and song heralding the holiday season on campus.
