Alpha Sigma Nu Award Nominees Sought

Applications are being accepted for the 23rd annual Alpha Sigma Nu Book Awards, being given by the Jesuit honor society this year in four categories: theology, history, literature and fine arts, and philosophy and ethics.

The awards recognize books published in the past three years by faculty or staff at Jesuit colleges or universities in the United States, and carry a cash prize of $1,000. Entries are judged on the basis of scholarship, presentation and style.

Deadline for submission is March 1.

Boston College authors have won eight first-prizes since the Alpha Sigma Nu Book Awards were inaugurated in 1979 to recognize scholarly publication by faculty and administrators at Jesuit institutions.

The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities in Washington, DC, administers the book awards.

Entry forms are available in deans' offices and in the Alpha Sigma Nu chapter office in Fulton 412C. For more information, contact Rev. William McInnes, SJ, ext.2-8192, mcinnewi@bc.edu.
