Faculty Member Wins Poetry Prize
Asst. Prof. Andrew Sofer (English) won the Second Annual Morton Marr Poetry Award, which is given to previously unpublished poems in a traditional verse form by a writer who has not yet written a book of poetry.
The Marr Award winner receives a prize of $1,000 and has his or her work published in the prominent journal Southwest Review, one of the oldest, continuously published literary quarterlies in the United States.
Sofer was the author of "Wandlebury Ring," a commissioned poem set to music and performed in New York City in December.
