Libraries' Verma Dies

(11-24-97) -- A funeral service was held in Bigelow Chapel at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge on Nov. 22 for Dhani Ram Verma, of Medford, a senior cataloging assistant at O'Neill Library who died Nov. 20. He was 68.

Verma, a native of India, was chairman of the constitution committee and a member of the steering committee of the American Library Association's Support Staff Interests Roundtable.

He was also a member and officer of the Council on Library/Media Technicians, an American Library Association affiliate that addresses issues of concern to library support staff personnel.

Verma was named a "Man of the Year" for 1996 by American Biographical Institute, Inc., a publisher of international "Who's Who" compendia.

He leaves his wife, Harbai "Asha" (Devi); four children, Raj, Madhu, Anil and Arun; and six grandchildren.
