Rep. Joseph P. Kennedy II (D-Mass.) will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. today in Gasson 100 to announce legislation he has filed in Congress aimed at addressing alcohol abuse among college students.
According to Kennedy's staff, the congressman has chosen Boston College as the backdrop for his announcement because of the aggressive and innovative efforts the University has taken to address alcohol use and abuse.
Assistant Dean for Alcohol and Drug Education Kimberley Timpf will speak at the press conference and will outline some of the model initiatives the University has implemented.
In addition, Henry Wechsler of the Harvard School of Public Health, who has published research on alcohol abuse among college students, will speak.
Students and other members of the University community are invited to attend the press conference
