(1-22-99) -- Buildings and Grounds workers successfully repaired a water main rupture that briefly caused a shut-down of water service to several Middle Campus buildings yesterday.
B&G Director Thomas Devine said there have been no reports of any appreciable damage resulting from the rupture, which occurred near Cushing Hall late Wednesday. Cushing, along with Campion, Higgins, Fulton and McGuinn halls and the Service Building, were affected. Work crews, however, were able to restore service by 4 p.m. yesterday.
Devine praised the efforts and patience of administrators and staff involved in repairing, or affected by, the rupture.
"The coordination with the academic departments, and with Human Resources, was excellent," he said. "Classes and virtually all other operations went on normally, and people were very understanding and cooperative."
