Campanella Announces Implementation of New HR System By July 1999

(7-30-98)--Executive Vice President Frank B. Campanella sent the following letter to University vice presidents, deans and directors regarding the implementation of a new human resources and payroll system:

"Boston College has recently contracted with Peoplesoft Corp . to purchase a new human resources and payroll system. The University has also retained the services of IBM Global Consulting Services to provide implementation support. A project team, consisting of staff members representing a cross section of the University has been appointed by the Project Delta Executive Team and assigned the task of redesigning many of our H R business processes prior to developing an implementation plan and installing the new software.

"As the combined team moves forward with the project it will require your full cooperation in order to succeed. Driven by Year 2000 considerations, the team is working under an aggressive schedule that will see the system in full operation by July 1, 1999. You and your staff will likely be asked to meet with team members to advise them on a number of matters critical to their work.

"Over the next several days the team will be scheduling a series of executive interviews, customer and process owner focus groups and other events. When this team contacts you, I expect you will give it your fullest cooperation.

"As the team continues with its work you can expect to hear more about this project through a number of channels. Thank you in advance for your support. If you have questions please direct them to Richard Jefferson, Project Manager, at or at ext . 2-3330. "
