The name of the organization shall be Allies of Boston College (hereafter Allies).
Article II: Purpose
The purpose of Allies shall be to offer undergraduate members of the Boston College community the opportunity to consider issues concerning sexuality and sexual orientation in the context of the University's Jesuit, Catholic tradition. Allies shall develop and sponsor educational programs that promote a fuller appreciation of sexuality as a gift from God, especially as understood in the Catholic tradition. Section 2: The removal of an officer shall require a two-thirds vote of the members present at a regularly scheduled meeting. The officer in question must be notified at least two weeks prior to the vote.

Such activities may include: forums to discuss sexuality and the Christian tradition, particularly Catholic moral teachings; presentations on the psychosexual development of young adults; programs and networks aimed at supporting undergraduate students in their quest for responsible, mature sexual identity; and events that deepen knowledge and understanding about issues concerning sexuality and sexual orientation among undergraduates at Boston College.
Allies shall not sponsor or support programs that involve public protests or petitions or activities and events that conflict with University policy or that University officials judge promote positions or behavior inconsistent with the Jesuit, Catholic mission and heritage of Boston College.
Article VIII: Role of the Office of the Dean for Student Development
The Dean for Student Development, in consultation with the Vice President for Student Affairs, will assign a staff member to be the advisor for Allies. This advisor will attend all meetings, provide ongoing guidance and interpretation concerning the purpose and goals of Allies, and approve or, where appropriate, seek approval of the Dean for Student Development for programs. These activities must be consistent with the purpose and the guidelines in Articles II, III, and VII of this Constitution.
Official recognition and continuation of Allies is based on adherence to the principles and provisions articulated in this Constitution, and failure to do so will result in revocation of standing as an approved undergraduate student organization at Boston College. The Office of the Dean for Student Development will annually review activities and conduct of Allies to ensure that it is acting in accord with its stated goals and procedures.
