BC graduate programs perform well in US News study (4-5-02)
- The Carroll School of Management places in the top 40 and its part-time The Carroll School moved up two places to 39th among graduate business
schools and its part-time MBA program improved two places to 17th in the
ratings compiled in US News' guidebook, "Best Graduate Schools,"
released April 8.
Carroll School Associate Dean Robert Taggart said the ratings affirm the
school's growing stature. "It's great to see this recognition of
all the
efforts and accomplishments of our students, our faculty and staff and
our loyal alumni," he said.
The Law School holds steady at 22nd, while the Lynch School places 21st
among graduate schools of education, moving up one place in the
rankings, and standing as the only Catholic institution in the top 40.
"This continued rise in the rankings reflects the growing recognition
of the Lynch School of Education as a school of excellence," said
Lynch School Dean Mary Brabeck. "It is a tribute to the faculty and
students who have earned this distinction." US News annually calculates
new school rankings in five areas of post-baccalaureate study: business,
education, engineering, law and medicine. The rankings are based on "expert
opinion about program quality and statistical indicators that describe
the strength of a school's faculty, its research, and the performance
of students both as they enter and leave," according to the magazine.
