Campus parking restricted Friday through Sunday

(8-28-2000) In order to allow returning students room to move into residence halls at the beginning of Opening Week, parking will be restricted on the Main and Newton campuses this weekend, beginning at midnight Thursday.

Effective through midnight Sunday, parking around residence halls will be closed to unattended vehicles during the day and overnight. Vehicles will be allowed to stay in those areas for 25 minutes to unload, then must be moved. A towing policy will be in effect.

The restrictions are being implemented to free the maximum available paved areas around the residence halls for parents and students to safely move belongings without damaging lawns or shrubbery.

The areas that will be closed to parking on the Main Campus are: both Edmonds lots; all of the St. Ignatius lot (church parking is allowed for scheduled Masses and events), all Hillsides parking spaces; the Hillsides wall-Perimeter Road wall; Commonwealth Avenue at Voute and Gabelli halls; all Williams, Welch and Roncalli spaces; and all Upper Campus spaces. Unloading will be allowed on Tudor Road along the CLX wall for first floor CLX residents.

On the Newton Campus, the Duschesne circle and lot, Hardy Cushing circle and lot, Keyes circle, and roadways will be closed to parking.

Outside of those areas, all regular parking restrictions remain in effect, with the exception of the normally restricted More Hall circle and lot, which will be open to general parking over the move-in weekend.

Overnight parking enforcement for vehicles without Boston College permits will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 1:30 a.m. Students without BC parking permits are urged not to bring their vehicles to campus.
