parking restrictions begin Thursday night
(9-19-2000) Parking will be sharply restricted on the Chestnut Hill campus later this week as thousands of visitors descend on the Heights for Parents Weekend and the accompanying Boston Pops concert in Conte Forum and BC-Navy football game at Alumni Stadium.
Boston College police require that all vehicles be moved from the Chestnut Hill campus by 11 p.m. Thursday to make room for the arrival of as many as 2,000 cars at the beginning of Parents Weekend early Friday morning.
Autos remaining on the grounds following the 11 p.m. deadline will be towed. Resident students may park on the Newton campus and take the regularly scheduled shuttle back to the main campus.
On Friday, a one-day ban on student parking will be imposed at the Beacon Garage to ensure adequate space for visitors attending the "Pops on the Heights" concert later in the day. Employee parking will be allowed in the Beacon facility that day.
Cars with commuter stickers will be allowed in the Commonwealth Garage and the Lower Campus surface lots. Valet parking will be available when capacity has been reached at the Commonwealth Garage and the Robsham lot.
In accordance with home football game parking regulations, all vehicles
must be off the Chestnut Hill campus on Friday night, prior to the game
at Alumni Stadium on Saturday. Violators will be towed. Municipal police
will be towing from Newton and Brighton streets.
