Libraries' new Quest system now available

(6-15-2000) Boston College Libraries has officially unveiled the new World Wide Web-based version of its online catalog and database gateway, Quest.

Through the new system, users will be able to determine the order and display of search results, download or send results via e-mail, receive regular e-mail updates of new materials that match their search criteria, and search more than one library catalog simultaneously. Students, faculty and staff also will be able to request holds and recalls, renew books, and check on any overdues or fines from home or office.

In addition, users will now be notified via e-mail about circulation activity, inter-library loan requests, holds and recalls. The new Quest also will make it easier for faculty to place items on reserve and recommend new materials for library purchase.

Library staff will continue to implement or refine system features during the summer, and encourage members of the University community to make suggestions or report problems. To access Quest, go to the Libraries' home page and click on the Quest link. Each Quest page has a "Feedback" link at the top allowing users to send their comments to library staff via e-mail.
