Law School faculty member selected to head Legal Writing Institute

(8-22-2000) Adj. Assoc. Prof. Jane Kent Gionfriddo (Law) has been named president of the Legal Writing Institute, a 1,200-member non-profit corporation that seeks to promote discussion and exchange of ideas on legal writing and analysis.

Gionfriddo officially assumed her duties as head of the Seattle-based organization in late July. In addition to publishing a semi-annual newsletter and an annual scholarly journal, the institute sponsors a bi-annual national conference on teaching, curriculum and scholarship issues in the discipline of legal writing. All American Bar Association-accredited law schools in the US are represented in the institute, as well as a number of foreign countries, independent research and consulting organizations, and members of the practicing bar.

A member of the Law School faculty since 1982, Gionfriddo received a Distinguished Teaching Award from the University in 1999.
