Who are Ignacio Volunteers?
Ignacio Volunteers are members of the Boston College community who participate in a series of international service and immersion programs offered by the University Chaplaincy. Guided by the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Ignacio Volunteers are challenged "to be men and women for others" and to seek the Sacred in and through encounters with people of different cultural, social, and economic realities. The service and immersion programs offered to Ignacio Volunteers provide the opportunity for participants:
  • to share in the lives of those living in poverty through short-term service projects;
  • to reflect critically on issues of social justice and poverty in our world today;
  • to increase our appreciation for the diversity of Creation through an encounter with those living a different culture from our own;
  • to offer the skills, resources, and gifts of Boston College students for the purpose of creating a more just world.
