Description: The Teatro Español del Siglo de Oro full
text database contains more than 800 plays written by 16 dramatists during
the sixteenth and seventeenth century in Spain. These important dramatic
works are either edited by the playwrights themselves or by an editor "endorsed"
by the playwright. The entire text of each play is included and searchable.
The coding has been especially adapted for dramatic works, allowing you
to limit your searches to specific elements of the plays. The database
can be searched using Boolean and proximity searching and/or using a combination
of the following search fields: keyword, play, title, speaker, playwright
or genre. The interface is available in both English and Spanish.

Description: EEBO brings nearly every English language book published
from the invention of printing in 1475 to 1700 to the Internet. Works by
Shakespeare, Spenser, Bacon, More, Erasmus, Boyle, Newton, Galileo; musical
exercises by Henry Purcell and novels by Aphra Behn; prayer books, pamphlets,
and proclamations; almanacs, calendars, and other primary resources are
all in full facsimile. This interdisciplinary database includes more than
96,000 early printed titles listed in Pollard & Redgrave's Short-Title
Catalogue (1475 - 1640) and Wing's Short-Title Catalogue (1641-1700)
and their revised edition. The works cover a wide range of subjects such
as English literature, history, linguistics, religion, the fine arts, and
the history of printing.

Description: Iter contains a Journals and a Books database. The
Journals database is an electronic bibliography of interdisciplinary journal
literature pertaining to the Middle Ages and Renaissance (400-1700). Citations
for articles; bibliographies; catalogues; editions; abstracts; and discographies
are included. To date, the full runs of more than 400 scholarly journal
titles, published since 1859, have been indexed. A complete list of titles
is available for review. The Books database (under construction)
is a bibliography of approximately 46,000 records encompassing monographs,
material published in monographs, and collected essays pertaining to the
Middle Ages and Renaissance (400-1700).

Description: The online AFI Catalog draws its content from six printed
volumes that document every American film from 1893 to 1970 (except 1951
to 1960). Each film record has been compiled by the editors and filmographers
at the American Film Institute (AFI). The AFI Catalog provides comprehensive
filmographic information on over 45,000 films, including more than 17,500
made in the early years of film from 1893 to 1910. The database includes
approximately one million personal name entries - including more than 500,000
actor entries and 27,000 director entries. Most records include extensive
plot summaries.

Description: Indexes periodicals published during 1741-1850. The
actual periodicals are on microfilm in two microfilm collections of the
same names (often referred to as American Periodical Series or APS I and
APS II ). Therefore, when searching the microfilm for a citation be sure
to note the appropriate microfilm collection. The name of the microfilm
collection is given on the final citation along with reel number and all
other information needed to find a citation. In some cases, the BC Libraries
may have originals of some of these periodicals and the index works equally
well with the hard copy as the final citation will include the periodical
title, volume and page numbers. The paper index American Periodicals,
1741-1900 edited by Jean Hoornstra and Trudy Heath (located in O'Neill
Microform Area Indexes Z6951.H65) must be used for the microfilm set APS
III (1850-1935).
