Research Infrastructure
One
element of the success of Boston College students and faculty is
the support for research at the University- in the Office of Research Administration
(ORA), the Development Office, the Libraries, and Information Technology.
The Office of Research Administration (ORA)
maintains current program announcements and other information on
funding opportunities to assist faculty in identifying possible
external sources of funds. ORA provides guidance in proposal design,
budget preparation, submission procedures and award negotiations.
ORA handles post-award administration and serves as a liaison with
sponsors in all grant management activities. ORA also administers
animal welfare compliance, human subject compliance, patents and
copyright issues related to faculty research projects. In addition
to support for external funding proposals, the ORA administers the
Boston College Faculty Research
Expense Grants program.
Information Technology (IT) manages Boston College's computing, communications, and electronic information resources. It provides leadership in shaping technology plans and strategies to support the mission and goals of the University. The Academic and Research Services (ARS) department of Information Technology provides the Boston College community with technical support and consultation services for application software and the use of technology to achieve university and professional goals.
Cutting-edge technology enhances student services, in addition to
teaching, research and administrative tasks at BC, and reflects the University's commitment to provide state-of-the-art
services and facilities, and to create a wireless campus.
