Carnegie Classification

Boston College is equivalent to universities ranked Research II in the 1994 edition of the Carnegie Classification. According to plans for the 2000 edition, Boston College will rank among Doctoral/Research Universities I.

In the 1994 edition of the Carnegie Classification, Boston College was classified in the category Doctoral Universities I. Our current data would qualify Boston College to rank with Research II Universities, according to the 1994 criteria. Plans for the millennial edition of the Carnegie Classification include changes which will place Boston College in the new rank of Doctoral/Research Universities I.
